Venice Blue
Watercolor on Paper, 18X24"
by Eileen Horwitz

Editor's Note

Punxsutawney Phil just predicted six more weeks of winter, so let Eileen Horwitz, our Issue 62 cover artist, help you imagine summer with her lively and vibrant, prize-winning "Venice Blue," the Venice she loves to recreate from her travels, just one example of her fluid expression, loose and unstudied, in watercolor.

Eileen has taught elementary school, been a docent at the Duke University Art Museum; a printmaker, owner and artist of Thumbprint Creations; a designer of custom silk flower arrangements, and a Principal in a design firm for twenty-five years. Then she discovered watercolor at the at the Handicraft Club of Providence Rhode Island. Widely exhibited, her paintings and prints are now in both public and private collections. More of Ms. Horwitz's watercolors can be seen at providenceartclub.org/eileen-horwitz.

With another blast of winter approaching, grab your favorite hot beverage and curl up with poems by Terra Brigando, Fleda Brown, Mary Buchinger, Sara Burnett, Tiffany Lynn Collier, Hilary Vaughn Dobel, Laura Glenn, Steve Lambert, Sharon Mast, Edward Mayes, Mark A. McKain, Jennifer M. Pierson, Peter Robinson, Kim Suttell and Gerald Yelle; new fiction by Karen English and Leslie Pietrzyk; and David Rigsbee's essay "On Jordan Smith."

And look for an announcement about a Cortland Review/Toadlilly Press reading off site at AWP in Seattle.
