Carolyn Kizer

Carolyn Kizer has been one of the most influential figures in American poetry since the 1960s, when she presided over Poetry Northwest, served as first literary directory for the National Endowment for the Arts, and helped bring feminism to the forefront of cultural politics. Winner of many honors, including the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry and the Robert Frost Medal, she has composed a body of work of exceptional grace, wit, and social gravity. In addition she has been a revered teacher, editor, translator, essayist, and ambassador of letters. Her Cool, Calm, and Collected was published by Copper Canyon Press in 2000. Kizer currently lives in Sonoma, California.
