Desire

Like a person
wishing to be a coin

that is given.
The shining

still going on
even in the pocket.

There is no fighting left,
just the memory of it.

The dark kitchens,
the bricks, the looks.

In many ways,
we have been

the very horses
in the race.

A repeating piano
bringing everything

to an end.
