Editor's Note

Dear Reader,

April has certainly lived up to its reputation as "the cruelest month." The Cortland Review, in the best spirit of pushing forward, presents cover art by Kelly Milukas titled "Color Oia," a bold and brave pastel honoring the organized chaos found in oia, santorini. As the sun slips into the basin of caldera, soaring structures, carved into the volcanic rock surfaces, are kissed with color.

Award winning Kelly Milukas, defined by vibrant abstracted realism, has a deep curiosity for life, and her paintings are a visually charged interpretation of native and distant travel experiences using big bold color, shape, and texture. You can find more of her work at www.kellymilukas.com and on Facebook.

TCR expresses appreciation for all those who run toward the tragic events the rest of us run away from, for the artists and poets who help us understand ourselves in the face of such events, and for you readers, the reason we put all this together. Please enjoy Issue 59.

Cheers,
