Heart Served Warm In Mortar And Pestle

I awoke from a dream of a dream woman, straining to memorize details instantly fading with consciousness.

I'd known her but briefly before she'd given herself to me completely. But immediately after, she'd rejected me. It hurt to know I'd never fix what I'd done to her as it was forgotten within seconds.

But what really clamped my throat tight, what really ground my heart tight up against my breast bones, was the fact that loving woman never existed at all.
