After Tony Writes to Me About Dogen

Reading about enlightenment, I am grateful I ate
granola with almonds, walnuts, cranberries and milk
rather than plain oatmeal, which takes several
lifetimes to cook in the pot I like to scrub until it shines
like a new one. I cannot focus on anything important,
like the fundamental nature of existence or
whether the corn gluten I put on my front yard
will speed the dandelions into their next incarnation,
ideally somewhere far from my window, when my
animal stomach growls at me for giving it such
a meager offering from such a bright, little bowl.
